Warehouse Circus is hiring!

 

We’re one of Australia’s largest youth circuses and we’re seeking a full-time circus trainer for a short-term, temporary contract (4 – 6 months) with potential opportunity to extend.

 

Ideally for immediate start (negotiable) with a four-month contract approx late August – December (finishing before Christmas) or a six-month contract late August – February pending availability of the right applicant.

 

Salary Range: $56k to $62k full-time p/a (pending experience level, negotiable for highly experienced applicants)

We deliver classes to 700 students per week, from ages 0 -100+; classes from beginner to pre-professional including an emerging artists program; circus-as-therapy classes for people living with complex disabilities; a professional performance agency; the Canberra Circus Festival and a circus shop. We partner with Kaleen High School to deliver their circus elective program, and our performance troupes perform frequently throughout the year.

We would love expressions of interest from circus artists with coaching experience to join this fun, hard-working and enthusiastic workplace.

 

The ideal candidate:

  • Is dependable, capable, honest, and kind
  • Has a broad coaching skill set of circus skills in acrobatics, manipulation, equilibristics, ground-to-air, and aerials, with at least one field of coaching expertise in the above
  • Good at lesson planning/following lesson plans, safe working methods, and works within and is honest about their sphere of knowledge.
  • Believes in and practices inclusive coaching
  • Works well within a neurodiverse workplace
  • must hold, or be able to hold a valid ACT WWVP card

 

Successful applicants who are also active performers can supplement their income as contractors with professional gigs obtained via our entertainment agency. We welcome and support practicing artists who wish to continue to make work and can provide space for such activities while you are here. We are also passionate about continued on-the-job learning opportunities for our training team and provide scope for employees to diversify skillsets both on the training floor and in arts administration and management behind the scenes.
