Please consider supporting our Capital Investment Fundraiser!

To weather very real financial risks of the next quarter and to ensure our doors stay open, we are launching a quick quick quick targeted fundraiser between now and the 1st of June!

Introducing SPACE JUGGLE!

Goal: to raise $50,000 in four weeks
Support much needed investment in our spaces and our future, so we can continue to best serve our members and help the community.

Why: It has been a challenging few years for arts organisations, and especially Warehouse Circus.
I’m sad to say that we have found ourselves in a period of extreme financial difficulty which is affecting our operations at all levels:

• Costs of delivery have increased substantially
• Funding amounts have remained largely static for several years
• More subsidy requests are coming from our community from families in need
• Fewer families can afford to attend public events – we deliberately keep our class and ticket prices as low as possible to support families to access what we do.
• Our equipment and spaces need urgent love and attention, to maintain current levels of service, and grow our offering.
• Our rigging, checked yearly, was due it’s 10-year engineering inspection this year – a very important (very expensive!) process that is essential for safety.
• We have made several other essential capital investments in gear and our spaces right now, contributing to our cashflow shortfall in the short-term.

We are sure that these investments will lead to greater quality classes and programs, and increase our potential to generate new income to support the circus.

What we are doing:

We are:

• converting our ‘lab’ storage space into a training room for performance classes with flooring, matting and curtains to reduce reliance on externally hired spaces. increasing class capacity, comfort, and available resources for our existing students and helping generate additional funds via external hirers.
• Converting our current studio room into space for music lessons and rehearsals, small creative developments, meetings, and other small group activities for use by our members, other providers of arts activities, and artist collectives.

To make this all possible, we need to overhaul our storage, complete with a new shipping container, shelving and new spaces and storage for maintenance and shop stock.

We are making more spaces readily available to the community for hire which will support our viability, providing professionally-equipped spaces for arts practice in Canberra at a low cost to artists to increase the number of professionals who can come here to develop work (and offer their skills to our students while they’re in town!)
