Canberra’s premier youth circus, Warehouse Circus, has announced they are bringing back Circus for Life Festival, Canberra’s very own festival celebrating the wonderful world of Circus Arts!
Circus for Life aims to use the medium of circus to celebrate healthy, active lifestyles for young people in the ACT and to promote circus as a unique arts industry, which offers social, physical and mental benefits for all people, whether circus novices or professional performers. The festival encourages artists from all over Australia to come to Canberra and perform and share their skills and talent and offers performance opportunities and other circus activities to young people who practice or want to practice circus skills in Canberra.
The Circus for Life program is jam packed with circus activity in three separate locations, including the Warehouse Circus HQ, The Street Theatre, and the Belconnen Community Theatre. The Warehouse Circus Intermediate Troupes are opening the Festival with their brand new show – Around the World (Circus Style) - for many of these students, this show will be their debut as performers. The Warehouse Circus Advanced Troupe will be presenting their always spectacular annual major theatre work at the Street Theatre as a part of the festival, including acrobatic group skipping, incredible tumbling and the greatest group juggling in Australian youth circus today!
Cabaret in the Sky, performed by our dedicated aerialists will show off the beauty, grace and thrill of silks, aerial hoop and trapeze. The long -awaited Circus Olympics is an event for all ages – competitions such as club combat, a handstand showdown and a unicycle egg-and-spoon race will leave you breathless with laughter, whether you’re participating or just spectating. 60 Acts in 60 Minutes will be the feature act of the Warehouse Circus ‘Juggling’ Ball, where you are invited to dress up in all your carnival finery and applaud an array of performers as they speed their way through an hour of 1 minute acts to be followed by a disco circus style!
As if that wasn’t enough to get excited about, Pants Down Circus, based in Melbourne, will be dropping by to thrill Canberrans with their breathtaking new show, FOURPLAY, involving acrobatic feats such as toss-the-girl, ladder, Chinese Pole and much more! The festival will close with a fundraising Cabaret night for ACAPTA, the Australian Circus and Physical Theatre Association. You can expect a variety of professionals showing off their various talents to raise money for this wonderful organisation.
