UPDATE: Second round applications NOW OPEN! (closing on the 3rd of November, 2014)

Warehouse Circus is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to improving the mental and physical health of young people through social circus. We are recognised as a key arts organisation in the ACT and have been providing social circus classes since 1990. Warehouse Circus works with young people in a positive, supportive environment that encourages healthy, active lifestyles, teamwork and creativity. We have a host of programs for beginner, intermediate and advanced performers, specialist programs, school holiday programs, community workshops, performances for festivals and other events, and programs for disadvantaged youth and young people with special needs.

The right applicants will be excited to teach and mentor young people of all abilities, including young people with special needs. They will be highly versatile, with expertise in at least two circus disciplines and a solid basis teaching a range of other circus skills including manipulations and basic tumbling and acrobatics. If one of their areas of expertise is an aerial discipline, this will be favourable as one of the two positions will head our aerial program as part of their role.

The positions could begin as early as November, 2014 or as late as January, 2015 depending on the availability of the chosen applicants.

In addition to Class Coordination, all full and part time positions at Warehouse Circus involve an administrative role comprising approximately 20% of the overall workload. This will be discussed at interview but could include event coordination/administration and/or marketing. The role may also include opportunities to direct acts and shows by young people.

Warehouse Circus provides a flexible working environment that is supportive of up-and-coming and professional circus performers. We offer access to our large training space and aerial rig as well as regular opportunities for professional development in the industry. We have strong ties to the professional circus industry and regularly pass on performance opportunities to staff. We are committed to assisting the development of a strong professional industry in Canberra as well as providing high-quality youth circus training. To apply please forward us a cover letter addressing this position description and a copy of your CV together with any other material you have that displays your experience as a performer or trainer (links to videos, website, professional references etc.)
